I’m Amy. We recently moved from the outskirts of Minneapolis to the Snowy Range Mountains in Wyoming. I am currently skidding into the second half of my life with a new found love of the outdoors.
This is how excited I am for the 2024 snow season! I love to trail ride and my husband (Eric) graciously goes along, even though he loves the backcountry sledding. I’m here for the fashion (obviously) and am in love with my teal 509 Mono Suit and a 509 helmet. Yeah, they don’t call them snowmobile suits any more. I started my sled career as a child, riding in the front of my dad’s Ski-doo. I can remember the heat coming off of the engine, keeping me warm.
This winter finally used the snow shoes we bought long ago and the scenery was exquisite. The quietness of the woods, looking for animal tracks and getting my steps is in the top of my things to do. It will do a doozy on your hip flexors!
In the summer, you’ll find us mostly on our e-bikes. There is a loop “around the neighborhood” that is about 14 miles. I know it by heart and is as good for my mental health as my physical health. Although I prefer to ride with Eric, I will oftentimes ride it alone. I ride a Norco Sight VLT. We got the bikes in July from a great shop in Laramie: Link Cycling (https://thelinkinnovations.com/) I put 501 miles by the close of the season, in which we were riding in the snow. See my bike review here: Norco Bike Love Story
The Snowy Mountain Range is in our backyard. Eric and I mostly adventure together, but I do go out alone if he is busy.
My goal for 2024 is to do the Medicine Bow Peak trail weekly and do a total of 52 hikes! I’ll be documenting my 2024 hikes on this blog, so stay tuned!
If you got this far, thank you. My hope is to show you my little corner of the world that is so amazing I often can’t believe I get to live here.
